to protect these lands
Before the DNR reconsiders this area for logging, it's important that we let our state officials know how passionate we are on this subject.
Please take the time to email as many individuals as you can. Below is a contact list with messaging ideas. Feel free to use our sample messages.

With the state legislature in session, our representatives should know that these woods are on the chopping block. Instead of clearcutting, they can be used to bolster the state's Climate Commitment Act.
WASHINGTON STATE LEGISLATURE
General Message: Our state should take active measures to safeguard our natural resources in these uncertain political times. With your support, the DNR can choose to save forests for carbon capture instead of logging old growth, which will bolster the state's emission reduction goals. The parcels known as "Bears U1 and U2" are prime examples of a carbon-dense and structurally complex forest that can meet the state's goals as mandated in the Climate Commitment Act. The ecosystem around McLane Creek Nature Trail is important to you. (Expand on why it’s important to you.) Urge them to protect this area for generations to come.
Keywords: state resident, carbon capture, carbon-dense, structurally complex forest, keep it off the auction block, protect this pocket of land, support Thurston County's plans to save older-growth trees
